How to read a German Shepherd pedigree

For Ján Sudimák a pedigree is a record of generations, not a list of titles. He looks at where ancestors repeat on the sire’s and the dam’s side, at the quality of the maternal line and well beyond the first generations – and he reminds breeders that ratings and points are not inherited.

What the book covers

In the book he shows how he reads a pedigree on matings from his own kennel: what the show, health and breed survey marks tell a breeder, how inbreeding is written and why he looks past the fifth generation. The book’s appendix of paternal lines and its sire photographs let owners trace their own dog’s lines.
